Austrian reporting platform
Efficient processes, better services
A capable public administration requires transparency in its own processes. With the Austrian Reporting Platform, the Federal Chancellery (BKA), together with other ministries, ensures that decision-making foundations are centrally available in a clear, visually prepared format. The platform comprises roughly 120 applications for performance monitoring, knowledge management, and service optimisation, which are used daily by more than 50 organisations, by up to 250,000 employees in public administration, and by as many as 500,000 users across government and the public.
Quick Facts
How it works
The Austrian Reporting Platform is a cross-cutting data and reporting infrastructure that brings together a wide range of application areas from public administration, environmental management, justice, and funding programmes within a modular system landscape. Its purpose is to prepare data from diverse sources in a structured manner, present it transparently, and thus support fact-based decision-making at all levels – from political steering to operational administration – while ensuring that data always remains with its respective owners. Each use case within the Austrian Reporting Platform has its own strategic focus: for example, business intelligence solutions for public authorities, visualisation of funding flows, or environmental reporting. The offering is complemented by performance reporting dashboards that provide monthly comparisons of key performance indicators for senior management, as well as applications for the Wallet/ID Card Platform and ID Austria, which deliver up-to-date usage statistics for the State Secretary (e.g., digital driving licences, registrations). With the platform’s shared services, we are building a powerful digital ecosystem for transparency, efficiency, and data literacy in the public sector. At the core is the established shared service of the Reporting Platform – guided by the following vision and mission:
Vision
With the Reporting Platform, Austria has a central service enabling a modern, user-centric data culture in the public sector. The Reporting Platform supports well-founded, data-driven decisions by consolidating data and providing analytical insights into past, current, and – with AI support – future developments and trends.
Mission
We continuously refine the methods and instruments for analysing and visualising quality-assured public-sector data in order to provide policymakers, public administration, and the interested public with the best possible information and decision-making foundations for evidence-based action.
We deliver our services efficiently, based on innovative technologies and fully aligned with the needs of the public sector and the standards of modern, citizen-oriented e-government.
Through our high-quality data solutions, we ensure that Austria as a whole can achieve more with data.
The Big Picture
All applications are designed to make public administration more efficient and transparent by providing information centrally and tailored to specific user groups: balanced workload distribution, accurate clarification of responsibilities, real-time usage statistics, and a solid foundation for scaling and further digitalisation. In this way, a modern administrative system emerges that places service quality at its core. At a time when data-driven decision-making is essential for effective governance, the Austrian Reporting Platform sets new standards for data management in the public sector. By standardising monitoring and reporting processes across a wide range of administrative domains, it significantly enhances operational efficiency and transparency. The platform’s ability to support diverse use cases – from tracking EU-funded projects to monitoring digital transformation initiatives – demonstrates its versatility and strategic importance. Through its shared-services architecture and advanced analytical capabilities, the platform not only streamlines current administrative processes but also paves the way for more sophisticated, data-driven approaches to governance. This comprehensive solution illustrates how technological innovation can transform public-sector operations while maintaining the security and reliability standards that are indispensable to governmental processes.
